To be quite honest, XML is foriegn to me. I know nothing about it at all, but I read that IDUG is having a really cool XLM Contest. This makes me want to learn more about XML and try to enter the contest. lol. Basically, the IDUG contest is a video contest. It’s very easy to enter. All you have to do is compose an XML rap or produce a short Xquery documentary. You can talk about DB2 or just record a video of yourselfworking.
Since I don’t know a lot about XML I probably won’t be entering my video into the contest but I figured that I’d blog about for those who might be knowledgeable in XML and want to enter the contest. There are alof of cool prizes to be won, and it’s also a chance to show of your skill. I created a little video related to XML but it’s definitely nothing fancy. This whole contest and the fact that you can win some good prizes makes me want to learn more about XML and Xquery. It’s seems pretty interesting. Anyway, check out my nerdy little video. Wow some people really don’t think before they act or maybe they just don’t care… This kid who is 20 years old and was in college got into a wreck because he was drunk and seriously injured a woman, 2 weeks later the kid goes to a Halloween party dressed up as a prisoner. People took pictures at this party and of course these pictures landed on the Internet where someone posted them on Facebook, this somehow led to the prosecutor handling his case finding these pictures. This stupid act got him 2 years in prison because they said he was a “unrepentant partier”, and this happens quite a bit from what I read as people post these pictures online and never really know who is viewing them…

A 19 year old man, a college student, committed suicide by overdosing while broadcasting live on some site called Justin.Tv. Some people actually egged this poor guy on instead of trying to talk him out of it or trying to get help. Others did try to talk him out of it and attempted to contact the website owners and police but it was too late. By the time the police arrived at the man’s home he was already dead. Their arrival was also broadcast live.
His name was Abraham Biggs and he was said by his family to have suffered from bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression, and apparently overdosed on a mixture of opiates and medication that is used to help control his manic depression. The only thing I can really say about this is that I am thoroughly disgusted with everyone who sat and watched this poor man take his own life. His family acted as though it was a surprise and “unexpected”. Are they stupid? I mean, I’m not meaning any disrespect at such a horrible time in their lives, but come on. He suffered from bipolar disorder. He took medication for it. Did none of them bother to read up on the disorder or ever speak to his psychiatrist about what it means to be a bipolar person? If they had cared enough to be more involved with this man’s illness, they would have known that studies have shown that people with bipolar disorder have anywhere from a 15% to 50% increased rate of suicide, and stress is often one of the most important indicators of suicide in a bipolar person.
Bipolar suicides are preventable. Intervention works. Why did no one intervene here? This is just so sad.

As of late, Branson Missouri seems to have becom quite the popular vacation spot whether it be winter or summer. Branson is not only home to several fun theme parks and museums, but many other events and attractions as well as some really nice hotels such as the HIlton Branson Convention Center Hotel and the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing, both of which are very luxurious and offer awesome themed packages.
Anyway, being that I’m a huge sports fan and love all types of sports from basketball to fishing I’m excited to learn that this Spring Branson is hosting the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Tournament. That will be held this March and also March 12-15 Walmart and Branson will be hosting the Walmart FLW Bass Tournament. Along with those 2 special events Branson also is home to several golf courses and theme parks as well as lakes and museums. So there is definitely plenty to keep you busy in Branson.
My favorite things to do in Branson include the Silver Dollar theme park and the Titanic Museum. I hope to check out the Branson Air show and the Greatest American Pie show upon my next visit.

Having just come out of a really long relationship, I more than likely will not be looking to date again any time soon. I have my reasons for not wanting to get into another relationship just yet. I’m a big fan of both Diablo and Diablo 2, as well as LOD. So of course I was extremely pleased at the official announcement of Diablo 3. There are alot of changes from the Diablo 2 that we are all used to and love, to this new version, which I personally can’t wait to actually be released. Diablo 3 boasts better graphics, stronger characters and easier access to spells and other menus. The character menu is similar to that of WoW. There are also different characters, and different monsters. I don’t know much else about it just yet, but what I do know has me really excited. It’s about damn time.
